It can feel very scary when you first decide to reach out and find a counsellor/ coach. How do you know if they will be a good match for you? It is a very personal decision, in this article I give a few ideas to make it less daunting.
There are a lot of things that go into picking the right person to sit and share your life stories and history with.
You must feel safe, not judged, and not be talked down to. Unfortunately, this is not always the case....
Retrauma
We can suffer more trauma if we are working with someone who has little or no experience in this area, the untrained person can suffer vicarious trauma and so on and so on... So please pick wisely. Listen to your gut! I hope this helps.
